In 2011, the Federal Government, in a bid to respond to the global imperative to connect with the evolving information society, made a crucial decision to establish the Ministry of Communication Technology out of the existing Ministry of Information and Communication. Accordingly, the Government took a further critical step in hunting for and appointing an ICT core professional as the Ministry’s pioneer Hon. Minister. To further create a conducive environment that would help to build a robust ICTs in the MDAs and transform governance, a Council was advocated and constituted by the then Minister on Thursday, 4th April 2013. The Council has the HMCT as the Chairman, D(ICT) FMCT as the Secretary with other members of the Council drawn from the line Ministries Department and Agencies(MDAs).
